For this project, I was appointed to create 8 new affordable apartment units. Throughout my design studies, I have learned that location has become more of a priority than size. This opens up a new world for designers. Are we able to achieve a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing design within 375 square feet? As difficult as it seems, it is possible. Throughout my design, I decided to stick with a solid rule for my spacial layout; 1/3, 1/3, 1/6, 1/6. This creates an intriguing building shape while still allowing for an open, some-what spacious floor plan for residents.
